Superpositioning, Quantum Gravity Computers and A Brief Re-writing of The History of Time

 8th Apr 2007

I will be brief.

Last week I was long and possibly a bit negative. This week I am late, short and definitely positive. It is a bit of a problem. Next week.....ah well, next week is what I want to talk to you about.

Because next week is where the solution is.

In an article on quantum gravity computers in the New Scientist a couple of weeks ago, the author mused upon the possibility of creating such a machine. I won't bore you with the details (largely because they don't make any sense to me). The main feature of such a machine is that it will be able to work out answers in advance of questions. Effects will, in effect, precede causes. Apparently it is all to do with something called 'superpositioning'. Now I am not totally sure what they mean by 'superpositioning' but I actually like the concept of being able to put myself in a super position; one above where I am now or have been recently.

So I have devised an exercise which involves modifications of 'normal', chronological thinking patterns. This seems to work well if you have a bit of a hangover following Bank Holiday excesses.

Experiment with this and send me your results:

Step 1

Think of the solution. (Yes, I know you have not yet defined the problem. Don't! Just think of the solution!). This can be as far into the future as you like, but it must be in the future. Even if you cannot think of a total solution, at least focus on the positive outcome. Ignore all thoughts that are not focused on the solution and outcome, especially any beliefs about what is and is not possible.

Step 2

Go back into your past and gather up your resources (skills, knowledge, experiences, attitudes and so on). Select any positive resources which will support you now in achieving this solution and remember you know how to learn so you can learn anything you need to learn to achieve this solution.

Step 3

Do a quick check to ensure that the solution you intend to implement will not have any detrimental effects elsewhere in your life or in the lives of others.

Step 4

Implement your solution.

Step 5

Review the consequences and adjust as necessary and desirable.

Step 6

Ask yourself, if you can be bothered, "So what was the problem?"

That's it. I think there are two ways of doing this exercise. The first involves doing it exactly as described above: sequentially, but starting from the future rather than from now. The second approach may seem a little (more) odd. In the second approach you do it all simultaneously. I can only do this in pictures, but that is my predominant mode of thinking. You may be able to utilise sound, feelings etc.

In other words (in pictures) see the future solution, outcome, past resources and experiences, and continue to do so all at once as you act.

Either way, the key to this exercise is to think of the solution BEFORE you think of a problem.

That's it!

You can go back to work, or sleep now. My mouse batteries are apparently critical, but what do they know?!

Until next time.....
